There are moments in life when we know that we want to change, go somewhere, do something important… But we don't know how. Well, I bring good news: we bring you the thirty things that you must stop doing to yourself in order to achieve those great things for which you are destined. It is not a list of things to do, they are things that we should all stop doing. We need to make room for the new and better things in life.
1. Stop spending time with the wrong people.
Life is too short to spend with people who suck your energy and happiness. If someone wants you in their life, they will make room for you, you shouldn't fight for a place. Never ever insist on someone who overlooks you. Remember that true friends are not necessarily those who stay with you in the good times, but those who stay in the worst situations.
2. Stop running away from your problems.
Face them! It will not be easy, nobody is able to get out of all the problems unscathed. You can't always instantly get out of a problem when it occurs - we're not made for that. In fact, the normal thing is that we feel sadness, anger, pain, uncertainty, defeat. This is the purpose of life: To face problems, learn from them, adapt and, finally, solve them over time. It is what converts and shapes us throughout life.
3. Stop lying to yourself.
You can lie to anyone in the world, but you cannot lie to yourself. Our life will improve only when we take advantage of opportunities and the first and most difficult is to be really honest with ourselves.
4. Don't leave your own needs for last.
The most terrible thing is losing yourself while loving someone else, forgetting how special you are. This does not mean that you stop helping others, but that you must help yourself as well. If there is a time to follow your passion and do something that matters to you, that time is right now!
5. Stop trying to be someone you are not.
One of life's great challenges is being yourself in a world that wants everyone to be the same. There will always be someone smarter, prettier, younger or older, but it will NEVER be YOU. Never change to please people; Be yourself and the right people will love you for it.
6. Stop holding on to the past.
You can't start a new chapter in life if you keep reading and rereading the previous one.
7. Stop being afraid of mistakes.
Doing something and being wrong is at least ten times more productive than doing nothing. Every success brings a story of failure behind it and every mistake is one step closer to victory. You end up regretting the things you didn't do more than the things you did.
8. Stop blaming yourself for past mistakes.
We may love the wrong person and cry over mistakes, but no matter how many things we've done wrong, one thing is for sure: mistakes help us find the right person and things for us. We all make mistakes, have problems, and even regret things from our past. But you are not your mistakes, you are not your problems and you are here and NOW with the power to shape your days and your future. Everything that has happened to you in life is preparing you for something that is yet to come.
9. Stop trying to buy happiness.
Many of the things we want are expensive. But the truth is that the things that really satisfy us are totally free: love, laughter and working on our passions. :-)
10. Stop looking for happiness exclusively in others.
If you are not happy with who you are inside, you will not be happy in a long-term relationship with anyone else. You have to create stability in your own life first, before you can share life with someone else.
11. Stop being passive.
Don't overthink things or you'll create a problem that wasn't even there in the first place. Evaluate situations and take decisive action. You cannot change when you refuse to confront things, progress involves risk, period! You can't get to second base if you have one foot on first.
12. Stop believing that you are not ready.
Nobody feels 100% ready when an opportunity presents itself. It's because opportunities in life push us out of our comfort zones, which means we'll never feel completely comfortable at first.
13. Stop getting involved in relationships for the wrong reasons.
Relationships must be chosen wisely. "Better alone than in bad company," my grandmother used to say. There is no need to rush, if something must be it will be in due time, with the right person at the right time. Fall in love when you are ready, not when you feel lonely.
14. Stop avoiding new relationships just because the old ones didn't work out.
In your life you will realize that there is a purpose for each person you meet. Some people will test you, others will teach you great lessons, but more importantly, some will bring out the best in you.
15. Stop competing against everyone.
Don't worry if others are doing better than you, focus on breaking your own records every day. Success is a battle between you and yourself, just that.
16. Let go of jealousy.
Jealousy is the art of counting someone else's blessings instead of your own. Ask yourself this: "What do I have that everyone else wants?"
17. Stop complaining and feeling sorry for yourself.
Life has its ups and downs for a reason: to shape your path in the right direction for you. You may not see or understand everything in the moment it happens, that can be very hard. But remember the difficult times you've already been through: They almost always lead us to better places, people, states of mind, or situations, eventually. So smile! Let everyone know that today you are much stronger than yesterday, and so you will continue.
18. Stop holding resentment.
Don't live your life with hatred in your heart. You will end up hurting yourself more than the people you hate could. Forgiveness is not just saying, "What you did to me is fine," it's being able to say, "I'm not going to let what you did to me ruin my happiness forever." Forgiveness is the answer, let it go, find peace, set yourself free! And remember, forgiveness is not only for other people, it is also for yourself. If you must, forgive yourself, get over it, and try to do better next time.
19. Stop allowing others to bring you down to their level.
Steadfastly refuse to lower your standards to accommodate those who refuse to raise theirs.
20. Stop wasting time explaining your reasons to others.
Your friends don't need it and your enemies won't even believe it. Just do what your heart tells you is right.
21. Stop doing the same things over and over without taking a break.
The perfect time to take a break is just when you don't have time for it. If you keep doing the same, you will keep getting the same results. There are times when we need a break to see things more clearly.
22. Stop overlooking the beauty of little moments.
Enjoy the little things because one day you will look back and discover that they were, in fact, the biggest things. The best part of your life will be the little things, countless moments that you spent smiling to whoever really interests you.
23. Stop trying to make things perfect.
The real world does not reward perfectionists, it rewards people who do things in a timely manner.
24. Stop following the easy way.
Life is not easy, especially when you plan to fulfill yourself in something worthwhile. Don't always take the easy alternative, do extraordinary things.
25. Stop acting like everything is fine when it isn't.
It's okay to break every now and then, you don't have to pretend to be strong, there's no need to prove to anyone that everything is fine all the time. You shouldn't be worried about what other people think. Cry if you need to, it's healthy to let those tears flow. The sooner you do it, the sooner you will be able to smile again, really smile.
26. Stop blaming others for your problems.
The ability to achieve your dreams depends on your ability to take responsibility for your life. When you blame others for what happens to you, you are rejecting this responsibility: You give others power over a part of your life.
27. Stop doing everything for everyone.
That is impossible, and you will only end up exhausted. But making a person smile, that special person, can change the world. Maybe not the whole world, but a part of it: focus is the secret.
28. Stop worrying too much.
Worrying does not take away problems from tomorrow, it takes away happiness from today. One way to tell if it's worth worrying is to ask yourself the question: “Will this matter a year from now? Three years? Five years from now?" If the answer is negative, then it is not worth dwelling on the matter.
29. Stop focusing on what you don't want to happen.
Instead, focus on what you do want to happen. Thinking positive is the preamble to resounding success. If you wake up every morning with the thought that something wonderful will happen that day and pay enough attention, you will find that you were correct.
30. Stop being ungrateful.
No matter how good or bad you have been, get out of bed grateful to have life. There are those who, somewhere, desperately fight for it. Instead of thinking about what you lack, try to think about what you have and that many people lack.
