"Do not leave for tomorrow what you can do today." Thomas Jefferson
Are you one of the people who always procrastinates for tomorrow? Have you dilated your dreams and you don't know what to do?
Keeping postponing your dreams, or continuing to put off something at home or at work costs a lot in the long run and can bring a lot of pain. Procrastination or procrastination is one of the most common problems faced by people who are always looking to create deadlines. It is estimated according to research conducted by Dr. Piers Steel of the University of Calgary it was found that 95% of people procrastinate at least occasionally, but that there are 15 to 20% of us that do it consistently and problematic.
It is very common to meet people who say:
"Today I will not finish it, tomorrow I will"
"Next week I start"
"Next year if I commit myself"
Any resemblance is pure coincidence. This is what I always hear or read in some emails that I get. Many people easily go to self-defeat by putting off their dreams, believing that there will be tomorrow when things change, when the wind turns in their favor. And it is that the hope of tomorrow tells you: "tomorrow I will have time"
The wise Solomon wrote: “Whoever watches the wind does not sow; who contemplates the clouds does not reap. "
Procrastination is a habit that costs our body damage, causes stress and causes illnesses such as the flu or digestive disorders, according to research. And it is that many times we also postpone the visit to the doctor or dentist. You can calculate how much it has cost you to stop going to a health specialist and see for yourself the cost of the delay or postponement.
There are many causes why people procrastinate, I will refer to a few. One reason is because they expect very little from life, they have lost their dreams. Their expectations are very low and they seek to avoid rejection. They are afraid of the loss of self-confidence and as a consequence their performance is mediocre. Do you expect very little from life? What are your life expectations? How many years do you hope to live?
Other people delay because they do not give importance to the relationship they have or the task they do. These people live putting off the things that are crucial in the family or at work and as a consequence comes infidelity, divorce, dismissal, financial bankruptcy, among others. Do I care about my family? Does my job or business matter to me? What can I do to change my situation and take it to a new level?
Others procrastinate because they are distracted by trivial matters that take them out of their activity or activities and they live waiting for the distracting element to go away so they can continue. What are the temptations that distract me and keep me from being productive? What is my responsibility? What is my commitment not to be distracted and to fulfill my duties?
Not necessarily who procrastinates is lazy, but I love this phrase of Solomon who wrote: “The lazy man aspires, and achieves nothing; the diligent sees his wishes fulfilled. "
If so far you have not achieved your dreams, you have not achieved your goals, you are not getting what you want in life, it is because you have postponed. Today is a good day to beat procrastination and commit to seeing your wishes come true.
Today is the time to take action.
